Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie

A tasty way to start your day with a decadent treat that is relatively low in sugar, high in protein and healthy fats, and will keep you full for hours! My 6am barre3 clients can vouch for it- I made this using the #fab4smoothie formula after my class for everyone and am still getting requests for the recipe.. so here it is!

Quick note on ingredients: While cherries are a little higher in sugar, at 1/4 cup you're looking at about 5 grams of net carbs (net carbs = total carbs - fiber, and 5.5 grams total carbs). Along with the right no-sugar protein powder (I prefer monk fruit sweetened proteins for no aftertaste), unsweetened almond milk (avoid carrageenan!) , and almond butter that is JUST almonds (no palm oil or sugar added) this smoothie is a balanced treat to satisfy that sweet tooth.

I'll be posting soon about ingredients and hosting a workshop to dive into how to read your nutrition labels/ingredients later in March- stay tuned!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup frozen organic dark cherries

1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (any nut milk works)

1 tablespoon almond butter

2 tablespoons ground flax seed

1 cup frozen spinach

1 scoop chocolate protein ( I use Ancient Nutrition Keto Chocolate Protein- use my discount code for 25% off at Thrive Market!)

1. Blend all ingredients until mixed well. (You can add always add ice for a thicker consistency). Pour and enjoy!
